Janab Hammad Ahmed has been involved in Jamia Hamdard since before it gained Deemed University status in 1989. Over the years, he has served in the Executive Council, Finance Committee and various other advisory bodies of the University and has championed the growth of Jamia Hamdard through sustained personal attention and interest.
Since joining Hamdard Laboratories India as its Sales and Marketing Head in 1973, he has overseen a meteoric rise in business and the Hamdard name, in the process establishing himself as one of India’s prominent business leaders. He is currently the Chief Mutawalli (Trustee) of Hamdard Laboratories India (Foods).

Professor M. Afshar Alam assumed the charge of the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard on 19th June 2021. He is the first Internal Professor from Jamia Hamdard to have been elevated to the position of the Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard through an All India Selection process, as per the UGC regulations 2019.
Prof. M. Afshar Alam has served Jamia Hamdard in various capacities. This includes Head, Department of Computer Science for consecutive three terms, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Information Technology as well as Dean, School of Engineering Science and Technology. He has also worked as the Head, Computer Centre; Dean Students Welfare; Foreign Students Advisor for more than 10 years; and Finance Officer for nearly one year. He founded the Computer Centre/Department of Computer Science in Jamia Hamdard.
He completed his Master's (MCA) degree from the Aligarh Muslim University and his Ph.D. from Jamia Milia Islamia. His research areas include Software Re-engineering, Data Mining, Bio-Informatics, Fuzzy databases, and Sustainable Development. He is the founding member of the Computer Wide Networking at Jamia Hamdard. In his 25 years of experience in teaching and research, he was invited to many countries across the globe including UAE, Nepal, Syria, Yemen, Iran, KSA, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Republic of China for delivering special lectures, Plenary Talks and as Keynote Speaker in Conferences.

The Government of India has included him in many committees. He is serving as the Chairman, of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the assessment of Colleges and Universities and also served as a Member of different committees of the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Science Engineering and Research Board (SERB), Technical Committee of NCPL, Ministry of Education.
In his illustrious career as an academician and researcher, he is conferred with many prestigious awards like AMP Award for Excellence in Education, Cooperative Citizen Award, World Environment Day Award, Spardha Shree Award, Mahatma Gandhi International Peace Award, Bharat Ratna Dr. A.PJ Abdul Kalam Top Icon Award for 2021 and the Time Magazine India’s Excellence Iconic Award 2021, NESA Education Excellence Award 2022.
Prof. (Dr.) Saleena K. Basheer is the Dean and Professor at the School of Law, Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research (HILSR), Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. With over 16 years of experience in legal academia and research, she holds a Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Laws from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). Dr. Basheer has previously served in various academic and leadership roles, including positions at Christ University (Bangalore), Jazan University (Saudi Arabia), and CUSAT. Her academic interests span across Intellectual Property Rights, Environmental Law, Jurisprudence, and Cyber Law.
An accomplished researcher and author, Dr. Basheer has published extensively in national and international journals and authored books on Intellectual Property and Competition Law. She has been a recipient of the IPR Chair (Ministry of Education) at CUSAT and has actively contributed to curriculum development, institutional governance, and legal outreach initiatives. As Dean at HILSR, she is committed to fostering a research-driven, student-centric legal education environment that upholds academic excellence and social responsibility.
