TENTATIVE GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION AND AWARD OF THE
DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF
PHILOSOPHY (PH.D.) IN MANAGEMENT
1.
Course
: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Management
This programme is being offered in association with Management
Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon,

Duration
:
Not Exceeding five years.

Medium of Instruction
:
English
4.
Eligibility of Admission
(i)
Masters Degree (with 55% marks) from any Indian or Foreign
University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
(ii)
Teaching and industrial experience may be given due weightage at
the time of registration and accordingly the minimum percentage of marks
may be relaxed for such candidate by the Board of Research Studies.
(iii)
Masters Degree should be in a related area of research. It is for
Board of Research Studies to decide if basic qualification justifies the
candidate's registration.
5.
Procedure for Application
A
candidate who is desirous of applying for the above course should make an
application on plain paper to Head of the Department of Management
Studies, FMSIT, Jamia Hamdard or to the Chairman, Fellow Programme in
Management MDI, Gurgaon.
The
application should be accompanied with the synopsis on the topic in which
a candidate wants to undertake research work.
The
application should contain the name of the guide under whom the candidate
wants to do research. At present, this programme is being offered in
association with Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, hence
the candidate should clearly mention the name of one guide from Jamia
Hamdard and one guide from MDI.
In
case main guide is from Jamia Hamdard then co-guide can be from MDI and
vice-versa.
6.
Date of Registration
The
date of applications made by the scholar would be considered as date of
registration for the course, provided the synopsis of the scholar is
accepted by Board of Research Studies.
7.
Composition of Board of Research Studies
The
Board of Research Studies would comprise of the following persons.
1)
HOD, Department of Management Studies, FMSIT, Jamia Hamdard.
2)
Chairman, Fellow Programme in Management, MDI.
3)
2 Faculty members each from Jamia Hamdard and MDI.
8.
Registration for Ph.D.
All
the proposals received from the candidates would be placed before Board of
Research Studies.
Board of Research Studies will meet atleast once in a calendar quarter. It
may meet earlier also provided sufficient number of applications are
received by the department. Immediately after the conclusion of the
meeting the department will intimate to the candidate clearance of his
application.
Board
of Research Studies may reject any application without assigning any
reason. In such case, the candidate may submit revised or alternate
synopsis again to the department for reconsideration.
