The major areas of research include the key aspects of the frontiers of natural product chemistry such as bioactive natural
products; modern spectroscopic techniques; bio-organic chemistry; biochemical
systematics; isolation and characterization of active principles in pure form from plant extracts and the subsequent pharmacological
screening; synthetic and chemical investigations in steroids; fundamental and applied aspects of colloid and surface science relating to application of surfactants in emerging technologies to drugs and allied industries.
The Department of Chemistry intends to introduce various courses on Health & Environmental Science during the next
few years. initially, a
P.G. Diploma in Health and Environmental Chemistry is intended to be started.
The course would be of one year duration and would provide trained persons in helping Industries and NGO organization overcoming various environmental problems.
